The European Championships are an eagerly awaited fixture each year and there is usually a very good turnout of Dutch drivers. In my model collection I have some of the cars that have won previous European titles. 

One of my favourites is the car of 'The Music Man' 417 Mike James. A highly successful F2 driver, he came all the way from Cornwall to Skegness on the 6th May 1990 to take what was regarded as a shock F1 European Championship victory. What I witnessed that day was a convincing win, leaving the likes of 22 (now 2) Paul Harrison, 471 Bobby Burns, 33 Peter Falding and 53 John Lund in his wake.

That was also the year that the Dutch drivers did well with H77 Chris Bimmell finishing 4th, H10 Piet Keizer 8th and H27 Sjaak Valk 9th.
